The TACF Board would like to announce the Tyler Swimming Pool Improvement Project as its next project fund. The project was kicked off with a $1,200 TACF Endowment Fund Grant. The Endowment Grant will be used to help the committee start its fundraising efforts.
You can also help this project get off the ground by attending Dad's Belgian Waffle Feed at the Tyler Legion. The waffle feed will be held this Sunday, November 18th, and they will be serving from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The Swimming Pool Improvement Committee is hoping to raise $25,000 over the next couple of years. The funds will be used to purchase and install a new slide. Funds will also be used to make other needed improvements at the Pool, so that more people will be able to take advantage of this community asset.
For those of you that can't make the waffle feed, you can send your donation to TACF (put Swimming Pool Project on the memo line or in a note) and mail it to PO Box 239, Tyler, MN 56178. You can also drop off a donation with Gary Manson at the Log Cabin or Tim O'Leary at Lyon-Lincoln Electric. All donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt from our partner, the Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF).

Give to the Max Day is November 15th!
Greetings from the Tyler Area Community Foundation!
GiveMN’s “Give to the Max Day” is coming up on Nov. 15th and we would like to provide you information about this fundraising campaign. GiveMN’s “Give to the Max Day” was created to raise as much money as possible for non-profit organizations like the Tyler Area Community Foundation in a 24 hour period. Since 2009, GiveMN has raised more than $48 million for more than 6,100 non-profits. GiveMN will continue there successful golden ticket opportunity and it will award 24 Golden Tickets in 2012. The Golden Tickets are $1,000 prize grants that will be given randomly every hour of the campaign. There will also be one supersized Golden Ticket valued at $10,000 which will be added to one lucky donor's gift.
In addition to the Golden Tickets, our partner organization, the Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF), will be giving out 2 Silver Tickets. Here is how the Silver Tickets will work: All donors who give to the Tyler Area Community Foundation’s general endowment fund during the 24-hour period will be eligible to have a $500 prize added to their gift, courtesy of matching funds from SWIF. Last year, Joyce Dass was a Silver Ticket winner. Two winners will be selected out of all community foundation partners of SWIF (there are 21 of us). A $10 gift to our endowment qualifies to the same extent as a $1,000+ gift (i.e. one gift equals one chance). The more gifts we receive, the better our chances!
The Tyler Area Community Foundation GiveMN page is located at: http://givemn.razoo.com/story/Tyler-Area-Community-Foundation-Endowment-Fund.
We hope you will consider donating to our general endowment fund through the GiveMN “Give to the Max Day” and maybe we can receive a golden or silver ticket which will add to our endowment fund. So, mark your calendars for Nov. 15th and let your family, friends and neighbors know about this fundraising opportunity.

Update on Fundraising Efforts
It has been a couple months since the last update, so I thought that I would share the most recent totals for the Downtown Community Sign Project. As of today, $28,868.54 has been donated to the sign project. A total of $15,584.15 has been raised since John Bornhoft's matching challenge was issued. Of that amount, one anonymous individual matched John's $5,000 donation and we would like to thank him or her for that donation.
We are getting close to the $30,000 goal and we are asking for your help to push donation totals over the $30,000 goal. If you would like to donate, please make your check out to TACF and make a note on the check that it is for the Downtown Community Sign Project. Then mail the check to TACF, PO Box 239, Tyler, MN 56178.

New Challenge Issued for Sign Project
First off, I would like to welcome our newest board members, Robert Wolfington and Joyce Dass. Welcome and thank you for your willingness to serve on the Tyler Area Community Foundation (TACF) board.
At last night's meeting we had John Bornhoft from the Lions Club give us an update on fundraising efforts for the Downtown Community Sign project. To date, $13,284.39 has been raised for the project. However, this is far from the estimate of $30,000 to complete the project. With that in mind, the board and John visited about ways that we could jump start the fundraising efforts and several ideas were talked about.
Then John asked about a matching challenge to the community and whether that would jump start the fundraising efforts again. The board mentioned that a matching challenge helped TACF reach its endowment fundraising goals and was well embraced by the community.
With that in mind, John made the decision to offer a challenge to the community that he would match up to $5,000 of all funds raised for the Downtown Community Sign Project through the month of June. The donation was made in honor and memory of John's father Mel Bornhoft.
Let's all help meet this challenge with a donation to the Downtown Sign project. You can send your tax deductible donation to: TACF, PO Box 239, Tyler, MN 56178. Please mark your donation "Downtown Sign Project" and join in this effort for a Community Sign.
